These are pictures of our Open Water Dive for our PADI Open Water Diver certification. We had a 5 week lecture and confined water dives that culminated into the Open Water Dive. This last dive occured over the weekend of September 7 and 8, 2002. The purpose of the Open Water Dive is to test the skills that you have learned in the Confined Water Dives (which are held in pools around Columbia).

We began our Saturday at 5:15 AM (I was glad I got to 'sleep in' on monday when I got up for work at 6:45 AM). Here is a picture of Kim putting some equipment into my parent's suburban.

Below is a picture of Kim getting things out of our car. We had our car close to my parent's truck so that we wouldn't have to lug all the tanks back and forth.

This is a picture of the Suburban, showing some of our equipment. You can see some tanks, bags holding our scuba gear, and our cooler.

Here is my mom. It is just about 6AM when this picture was taken.

We arrived at the gate around 7:30ish AM. We drove perhaps 500 feet or so to where we setup camp. Below is a picture of Bruce Farmer (left) and Mitch. Bruce owns Columbia Scuba and was one of our Instructors. Mitch is a Dive Master, and was there to make sure we stayed out of trouble.
